 How does the History of Turkey play a role in its Constitution Development


(1) Introduction: 

Turkey has great historical values. It has seen so many triumphs and trial. The history of Turkish is old revelatory, evolutionary and changing of every movement of life. The great Ottoman Empire adopted it first constitution during 1876, which was latter on amended in 1908. It has made so many internal rule and regulation. The Present constitution was passed in 1982. 

(2) Historical development:  

Turkey has seen so many issues challenge victories and retreats. Following is a smart glint of historical background of Turkey constitution: 

(a) Sened-e-Ittifaq:

Sened-e-Ittifaq meaning by a mutual agreement was passed in 1808. It was prepared by Alamdar Mustafa Pasha. In the reign of Muhammad to, these treaties was made under the headship of Ottoman Empire. 

(b) Ottoman reform edict:

To meet the changes needs the Ottoman Empire brought reform in 1876. This was the first every constitutional development in the history of great Turkey.

(c) Second constitution Era:

As the historical and cultural changes accord in Europe and Asia, the Ottoman Empire brought second constitutional modification in 1908-20 this is called second constitution Era. During this period Europe was agitation and the impact of this agitation was seen even in Turkey.

(d) The first constitution of republic of Turkey:

The first ever constitution of the Republic of Turkey was passed in 1921. This constitution was passed by Grand National Assembly. During this period Turkey had unicameral system of legislation.

(e) Revision of constitution:

The first constitution was revised in 1924. After shocks of First World War impacted on the first constitution as Ottoman Empire was abolished from Turkey. Ata Turk Mustafa Kamal Pasha became the rural of Turkey. Turkey was declared a secular state.

(f) Constitution of 1961:

The Turkish replaced earlier constitution of 1924 with new constitution in 1961. This constitution was also passing on the base on referendum. In this constitution the upper house was created, it was named Senate. Turkey switched to bicameral from unicameral. This constitution remained enforce till 1982.

(g) Current constitution of 1982:

The current constitution came into force on 7th November 1982. It replaced the earlier constitution of 1961. According to this constitution Turkey is a secular state. It derived sovereignty from democracy. It parliament is again switched to Unicameral from Bicameral. The house of senate is an obliged. All powers of vested to Grand National Assembly. 

(h) Amendment in constitution of 1982:

Since the creation of present constitution of Republic of Turkey, many amendments has been made until know. The most prominent amendment became the part of in 2017; When Turkey introduced Residential form of government by abolishing the office of Prime Minister. 

(3) Conclusion:  

To conclude I can say that Turkey is a unique State, with prolong historical evolutionary and revelatory values. Constitution of Republic of Turkey came into existence after a long evolution journey so many experiments were made pious the present situation of the current constitution of 1982. The Turkish parliament switched to bicameral from unicameral and then unicameral from bicameral. Summarily the office of Prime Minister was abolishing in 2017 and Presidential form of government was adopted.
